WALKING AROUND BUR DUBAI & DEIRA

Dubai, UAE - 2016

On this trip, I got to hangout Reem Falaknaz, Layan Attari, and Layla (Reem's cousin). Reem parked her car in Bastakiya and we started walking. I thought the heat and humidity would ruin this for me, but it was one of my top 5 outings this year. Towards the end of the day, we had good food and played a game where we said words that had the letter ق in them. I don't remember how this started, but we kept playing in the cab and the driver joined us.

Thank you for the nice tour, food, vibes and laughs, ladies.

BON GA RESTAURANT

Abu Dhabi, UAE - 2016

When my sister found out that I was going to Musaffah, she asked me to pass by the Korean supermarket to get her some ingredients to make BBQ beef. Since she was awake, she said she'd join in, and we can check out a Korean restaurant right next to the supermarket. I've been to 4 different -exclusively- Korean restaurants, and this is by far the best one I've been to. It's very cozy, and everything taste divine. The owner/manager was very nice, and the staff were sweet. They also sold their Kimchi and other appetizers. We bought these dried anchovies (something we never thought we'd like) that were mixed with some sort of sweetish sauce, and they're just incredible.

PHOTO DUMP - PICTURES TAKEN THE PAST 2 YEARS IN/BEFORE/AFTER UNI (ongoing)

The past 5 years have been insane, here are some photographs that were taken during university. Books I'v read, stuff I ate, floors I sat on, skies I flailed over, my room changing etc. I'll just keep adding to this, as I find photographs (hence, photo dump).

I absolutely love how I can notice me changing through these photographs. My angles & editing preference change too. Time is beautifully un(real).

LEBANESE FLOWER BAKERY

Abu Dhabi, UAE - 2016
Taking pictures of places that sell food is proving to be quite difficult. People are not used to other taking pictures of insignificant things, making them think I work for the food control authority. By 10:30 am, I had already told 4 people that I was no one so they can relax. One man asked me, "Do you need anything sister? Can I help you? " "No thanks, I'm taking pictures of this tree that serves as a natural hanger for prayer carpets" "Oh..."

Anyway, this bakery is in front of my first school (KG - 7th grade). When we were done with parents' teacher meetings, we'd either go get manakish from here, or a happy meal  from Mcdonald's.

UNFAMILIARITY

Abu Dhabi, UAE - 2016

I had some personal errands to run today, but on the way home, I took a wrong turn and decided to park the car and go for a long walk and check out these small stores. Pretty annoyed that I went on a lil impromptu adventure, and got lost (twice - the second time, I forgot where I parked my car) without having my film camera.

Here are more parts of Abu Dhabi that I'm not very familiar with.
